Despite being despised as unsightly, cellulite is natural and normal.  It is thought that over 80% of women get some patches of cellulite somewhere on their body once they get past puberty.  You don’t have to be very old or overweight to get cellulite.  Even slightly underweight people have it.  Surgery seems to help, but it is expensive, risky and the effects are often temporary.  Is there a natural cure for cellulite?

Great Expectations

First off, nothing is going to make cellulite vanish away completely.  There are some natural cures for cellulite that work like cover up makeup for zits.  They won’t get rid of cellulite – but at least it’ll make the cellulite a lot harder to see.  When you decide to use any natural cure for cellulite, don’t expect miracles.

Coffee Grounds

Although many health experts advise those with cellulite to stay away from caffeine, there are those who think you should have at least one cup a day in order to help get the blood pumping and get fat cells broken up.  However you look at drinking coffee, you’ll have to do something with it after warming up coffee grounds.

Warm coffee grounds have been used as a skin scrub and a natural cellulite cure for decades among women.  Supermodels, actresses and beauty contestants are rumored to also use this natural cellulite cure.  You spread newspapers all around your bathroom, sit on the toilet of the edge of the tub and scrub the warm coffee grounds over your cellulite prone areas like your thighs and buttocks with your hands or a loofah mit.  It’s a very messy process.

It’s thought that these natural cures for cellulite is improved when you take a rolling pin and – well – roll your cellulite areas with it.  You then rinse all of the mess off or your body and carefully clean up all of the coffee grounds by rolling up the newspapers.  Do this twice a week.

Affirmations

Actually, there is no logical reason why you should be waging such a war against cellulite.  It is actually a good indication that your body is acting normally.  It’s just that we have been programmed that beauty if a very narrow definition which includes no cellulite.  One of the most natural cure for cellulite is also free.  You just repeat to yourself over and over that you don’t give a darn about having cellulite.  These are called affirmations.  Eventually, the affirmations sink into your subconscious.

When you discover that you have cellulite on your body, you don’t exactly feel great about it.  Nobody likes to be reminded that they look imperfect or fat.  However, a certain percentage of body cellulite is perfectly healthy for people – even if you are at your ideal body mass.  Cellulite is most common in women, and it appears in almost all women.  Are cellulite lotions the answer to getting rid of unsightly cellulite?

Not Really

There are many products on the market today that promise to make cellulite disappear. They will also promise to rid the body of cellulite forever. Claims like these are simply not true. It is impossible for a topical solution such as a cream to dissolve fat that is underneath the surface of the skin. But many people buy these creams and lotions every day. While some people claim these products diminish the appearance of cellulite, most people agree that they have wasted their money.

Nothing will get rid of cellulite permanently except death (which kind of defeats the point).  Even liposuction’s effects are often temporary, and the cellulite is clearly visible a year or so later.  There was hope that cellulite lotions would help eliminate cellulite without the expense and risks of any surgical procedure.  Well, we can just keep on hoping.

Cellulite lotions and creams do not get rid of cellulite.  However, they can sometimes be able to hide cellulite’s obvious appearance.  Cellulite lotions and creams will often point this fact out and state that they help reduce the appearance of cellulite, but not reduce cellulite itself.

On the whole, if you have very light skin, cellulite lotions and creams won’t do a noticeable job for you.  But if you have darker skin, you have a much better chance of reducing the appearance of cellulite with lotions and creams.  You also need to drink plenty of water and eat a sensible diet in order to give the cellulite lotions a fighting chance.

What About Massage?

One thing that is in favor of cellulite lotions and creams is that they often suggest you gently massage them in.  The act of massage has been shown to help the appearance of cellulite in minor ways (depending on the person).  It is thought that regular massage helps promote circulation and help the body be able to better digest food.  So, could the massage really be key in the supposed results of cellulite lotions?

Quite possibly.  Any lotion, therefore, might act as a cellulite lotion as long as you use it in a therapeutic massage.  One of the great things about massage is that it feels really good and you don’t have to spend a lot of money on.  You can take massage classes, but it’s not necessary.  Fun experimentation can help you find the right massage on your cellulite areas for yourself.

Help your cellulite lotions along with a sensible diet, avoiding a lot of coffee or alcoholic beverages (which dehydrate you) and exercising regularly.

Put the money away and save it for more fun things such as new clothing or a dinner out with friends or family. These products are not worth the time spent applying them. A proper diet will help the skin look its youngest. Certain foods high in calcium will help improve skin tone, while drinking plenty of water will improve overall color and appearance. Treat skin problems from the inside out, not with creams and lotions that will not help at all.

Cellulite represents one of the most negative aspects of the skin. Over 80% of women fight cellulite through specifically different ways. These include diets, massages or different crèmes lotions and potions. Due to the connection between women and the estrogen hormone, cellulite is usually strictly a feminine problem. However there are a few men who suffer with cellulite. The explanation for this is probably the small level of estrogen hormones in their body.

Cellulite is one of the most unsightly skin problems in the world, one that millions of people presently suffer with. Although it is much more predominant among women, cellulite can also affect men, and regardless of the gender it is affecting it can be devastating in terms of the person’s self esteem and self confidence.

Causes of Cellulite

Before you can properly treat your cellulite you need to understand the different causes of cellulite. This way you can determine the specific causes of cellulite in your case and then avoid them in the future, if possible.

There are actually quite a few different possible causes of cellulite. Although some people believe it to be a myth, it is actually truth that diet plays a major contributing role to cellulite. By eating fatty and sugary foods you are causes an increase in fluid retention in the body and a blockage of fat cells, which is what results in dimpling and puckering of the skin.

Lack of exercise can also be responsible for causing cellulite, and so it is important that you get in as much physical activity as you can. Genetics also play a major role as cellulite has been shown to run in families. A few of the other causes of developing cellulite include insufficient water intake, smoking, tension and stress, medication, and a sedentary lifestyle.

Treating Cellulite

Once you have determined the causes of cellulite in your particular case you can attempt to cease or avoid as many of the contributing factors as you can, but keep in mind that often additional treatment will be required as well.

Hydrotherapy is one of the most effective methods for preventing and treating cellulite. You can achieve hydrotherapy through steam baths, saunas, and hydro massage, to name a few, all which help by increasing circulation. Steam helps by loosening the pores in the body and improving circulation. Liposuction is one of the more serious treatment methods for cellulite and is often only used as a last resort. It has shown to be incredibly effective however, and so most people would consider it a worthy option.

Regardless of which particular treatment you decide to go with, the best thing you can do is live as healthy a lifestyle as possible in order to not only deal with your present cellulite but also prevent it from recurring in the future. Eating a healthy, well balanced diet, getting plenty of exercise and drinking enough water, at least six to eight glasses of water a day is ideal, will help you to reduce overall body fat and decrease cellulite.

Of course slim women do get cellulite, but it doesn’t usually appear to be as much of a problem for them as it is for women who are obese. So the obvious choice here if you have cellulite and you are overweight, is to lose weight, start eating sensibly and take some exercise. The cellulite then should start to improve if not disappear completely.
