You might have heard about the 5 Factor Diet, but does it really work? I decided to investigate.

This Five Factor Diet was originally designed by Harley Pasternak for Hollywood celebrities. He made it easy to follow by using the number 5 in various ways in the diet.

For example, you should have five meals every day. The theory there is that your body will keep a high metabolism going, unlike starvation diets, where the body slows down its metabolism and defeats the fat-burning purpose.

All 5 meals are low in fat and calories. The meal plans emphasize lean meat, carbohydrates with low glycemic index, fiber, and lots of water to drink.

For convenience, the meals only have five ingredients and take only five minutes to prepare. That sure is easy.

The number five also comes into play with five workouts per day, consisting of 5 exercises each. This comes to a total of 25 minutes of exercise per day, but in small, manageable time periods.

There is also one cheat day per week built in to the diet, which is really good for keeping up your spirits and allowing you to have some normally forbidden foods.

There is a website for the 5 factor diet where you can go for help and support as you work through the diet plan. In addition, of course, you can read Pasternak’s book for more information.

In my opinion, the diet, although it may seem gimmicky with all the 5’s, actually is a very healthy plan and will teach you good habits that you can take with you even after the diet is over.

Many diet experts say that eating more small meals per day is healthier and better for losing weight than just eating 3 meals per day. And who can argue with eating lean meat, sticking with low glycemic index carbs, consuming lots of fiber, and drinking plenty of water? These are all common sense factors in any sensible eating plan.

In addition, having your exercise in 5-minute periods makes it a lot easier to get your daily amount of workouts.

And I think that including a cheat day every week is great, because you know that people cheat on their diets. There is no way to stick to a diet all the time. This way, the cheating is controlled and does not sabotage the whole diet.

I think that the Five Factor Diet is actually very smart and makes the basics of dieting easy to follow. The five factor diet lasts for five weeks, but the habits that it teaches you will hopefully last for a lifetime.

Is caffeine in dieting a good thing when People who make or buy weight loss plans and like to drink coffee, would be very disappointed if caffeine was excluded from the plan. Whether long term or fast weight loss plans all of a sudden you come to know that you have to cut down caffeine from your diet; means that you have to give up your habit of having cups of coffees or diet cokes. Isn’t it too harsh for a person who is almost addicted to such beverages? Read this little guide to weight loss plans with or without coffee.

It is really hard for most of the people to give up coffees or other caffeine based beverages. This is the reason why the thought of leaving caffeine in dieting seems horrifying. People, who got addicted to coffees or other caffeine based beverages, found withdrawal symptoms when they tried to quit caffeine from their diet straight away. So now comes an important question; is it a way of dieting while including caffeine in the diet to some extent? Well, there are both pros and cons of including caffeine in dieting.

If you are really concerned about your health and fitness and really want to reduce weight then you must think about and study the advantages and disadvantages of having caffeine in your diet and be the judge and make a conclusion.

Pros

Following are few of the pros or benefits of using caffeine in dieting:

- In many reviews of weight loss plans where pills are involved, we are told that most of the diet pills that often are part of rapid weight loss plans contain caffeine as one of the integral ingredients. The reason for using caffeine in diet pills is that caffeine act as a great stimulant to our body. After having caffeine, people find themselves more energetic and active. This advantage can be exploited for the purpose of exercises and physical activities as well. People, who are on dieting, without caffeine, find themselves a bit lazy towards exercises and other physical activities.

- Caffeine also helps in suppressing the appetite.

- Another advantage of using caffeine in diet is that most of the people who are on dieting feel that they have given away many such foods and diet habits that they really enjoyed in the past, however, using beverages like diet coke or coffees can give them a feeling of having something that they can enjoy in their diet.

Cons

- Although there are some advantages of including caffeine in one’s diet, however, there are some disadvantages too. Some of the disadvantages of using caffeine in dieting are:

Caffeine, as you may know, has the tendency of increasing blood sugar level since it can affect the hormones adrenaline and glucagon. That is the reason why most diet plans like Atkins or The Zone diet strongly discourage the use of caffeine in dieting. If you consider the fact that caffeine can affect Blood sugar level then it is obvious that caffeine dieting is not something recommended for diabetic people.

- Another major problem of having caffeine in dieting is that caffeine can act as diuretic. You may have heard that the more coffee a person drinks, the higher risk of dehydration is there. Dehydration can result in quick weight loss and can be used as a short-term weight loss plan but it is not a good practice since it can harm your body and the results also are not long-lasting. Lack of fluid in a person’s body can bring undesirable results. In order to burn fat cells inside your body, your body must be well-hydrated.

Whether to include caffeine in dieting or not, is a bit complicated or rather a controversial issue. It mainly depends upon the dieter to choose the best possible diet plan for himself/herself. But before choosing any diet plan, whether it includes caffeine or not, one must take advice from experts; doctors or nutritionists. They will be in a better position to tell you about your diet plan.

BTW, have you heard about top secret fat loss secret, the weight loss plan everybody is talking about?

There are tons of information around about how to reduce cellulite.

I am extremely not in favor of using chemical drugs or treatments whenever possible. I am a natural remedies lover and user in every aspect of my life: I try to eat healthy, live healthy, not to use chemicals – of course, I use cosmetics, shampoos, cleansing detergents, washing powder and other chemical things which do not influence my body directly.

This is why I keep focusing on finding the best solutions to reduce cellulite using natural ways as much as possible.

More information about each of these cellulite reduction techniques you will find in my posts with reviews and more detailed information.

However, you might want to reduce your time spent on research and reading, and may want to get all the best cellulite reduction tips in one convenient place - in a Fight Cellulite Book. The book contains all the necessary information and covers the whole cellulite reduction program. You will have to dedicate a few weeks to really get rid of your dimples, and there is a huge advantage of the book - the program really works! I have spent months on researches, huge money on different treatments and procedures, and my cellulite is invisible now. I share my experience in a book so you do not have to spent so much time and money looking for a cellulite solution.

These are the ways and techniques I have tried and have a lot to say about:

* Massage – when any area of the body is massaged, it stimulates cells, gets higher blood circulation – that means more oxygen and better skin elasticity, flushed out toxins, reduces fluid in cellulite-filled areas and helps remove toxins. Massage can be body scrub for everyday, point pressure massage, electrical pulses (this one can be done professionally at spas and salons). Be sure to use special massage treatments such as oils, body milk and other – especially with seaweed ingredients.

Another kind of massage can be done by brushing your skin with a massage brusher. This way the blood circulation to the skin is increased. Toxins are encouraged, skin is getting firmer and cellulite starts to decrease.

* Contrast shower – while done daily, this technique helps firm your skin and reduce cellulite. There are some details to know about how to do it right – you will find it detailed in my posts.

* Treatment – there are thousands of creams, lotions, pills and other products on the market for cellulite reduction. However, the advertisers provide promising information while the biggest part of treatments do not help at all or just help a little bit, which is never really seen on the skin. Most of the products actually help reduce cellulite temporarily but in the long run it really helps zero, if used alone. See our recommended products section for the ones that work best.

* Body wrapping – this is a really good working and quick result showing option, often called as contouring body wrapping. Unfortunately, left untreated later, cellulite shows up again. One of the best solutions in my opinion for a quick result, especially if you have 2-3 weeks left for a sunny beach holiday or something like this. However, body wrapping should be used together with a cellulite diet to get maximum results. body wrapping works by eliminating body toxins. As known, body wrapping is often made using the Dead Sea Mud which is a very good medical treatment also for the skin.

* Diet – when following an anti-cellulite diet, you have to eliminate fatty, salty, sweet and junk food out of your daily menu. According to some theories, dairy products are also unwanted during this course. Choose boiled or grilled chicken, slice off the fat from meat, drink plenty of water (not less than 8 glasses a day) to flush out all the toxins, eat more fruits and vegetables, more soy, nuts and berries, more onions, avocados, bananas, fish, bran and oat cereals, broccoli, no sodas, no alcohol, no smoking, no caffeine, no sugar or sweeteners, no refined food, no saturated fat (butter and other full-fat diaries), no necessary pills (e.g. diet, sleeping, etc) – these are chemicals.

* Exercise – this part of cellulite reduction process is as much important as Diet. One very logical reason – exercising you burn more calories which means reduce your whole body fat. While exercising you also firm your skin and tone your muscles, improve your blood circulation. However, cellulite reduction exercises are not only regular exercises we do at home to wake up our body in the morning. There are some really good types of exercises that guarantee more oxygen for different areas – I will post more info about them and show you how to do them later on.

* Mesotherapy – one of not natural ways to get rid of cellulite. Since I really only focus on natural and not – surgery ways to eliminate cellulite, this will not be the one I am going to try myself. This method is based on small medical injections directly to the upper level of the skin, in order to reduce the visibility of cellulite and reduce fat cells.

Lifestyle in general

All these mentioned above techniques really work when combined together and actually make a full lifestyle: you do not smoke or drink alcohol, do exercises regularly, eat less sugar and drink less sodas (or even better – no sodas at all) – you start living healthy! Healthy living is a basement for getting rid of unnecessary fat, toxins, get fit and beautiful, and finally, reduce cellulite to maximum - I mean - minimum :). You start feeling better day by day, start looking better, start worrying less about different things, get less stressful situations for that reason – you just live longer and happier!

I will leave aside any surgical techniques of cellulite reduction as I believe they can cause some other medical (physical, emotional, psychological) problems someday later in your life. There are more medical treatments and ways to get rid of cellulite or reduce its visibility, but since I am not really a lover of medical injections or ways to treat cellulite, this is why I am providing just a few information about possible solutions, but cannot really try or recommend them.

From the outset of my decision for laproscopic banding surgery has been the nagging fear that everyone has, especially when they commit themselves lay bare-chested in front of a man (or woman) with a big scalpel who would rather be on the golf course with Cecil Snr and Farquah the Third. The nagging fear is of course…”am I going to die?”!

For people having this procedure who listen to their surgeons before-hand and do some research on the fact, the figures for death caused as a direct result of laproscopic surgery to fit a gastric band are quoted as anywhere between 1 in 1500 and 1 in 3000. That’s quite a big difference in odds, so I tend to be darkly cautious and weigh up my options using the 1 in 1500 figure. Each hospital, surgical team or individual surgeon has their own quotes - much in the same way that each bank has its own mortgage rates. I was personally quoted a 0.06% morbidity rate (1 in 1666.6 recurring), which wasn’t the best on the high street, but I’m keen to keep my aftercare as close to home as possible. I also noticed that, unlike me, he had very steady hands.

Initially, when quoted this morbidity figure of 0.06% (i.e. my chance of snuffing it), I felt like throwing the idea of ever being at a healthy weight down the pan - along with my shredded cardboard breakfast that they call All Bran.

Then, I took some time out and decided to explore the Internet, the forums and the books and see what other people thought on this and what it actually meant in real terms.

Having scoured the Internet for comparisons of causes of death, I was strangely heartened by these figures of average citizens in the US (heartened not because I hate Americans, but that’s where most of the stats seem to derive!):

* Your chances of dying in your lifetime by firearms is 1 in 325.
* Your chances of dying in your lifetime by a car accident are a shocking 1 in 100.
* Your chances of dying by fire or smoke are 1 in 1000.

Now, I intend to avoid dying by any of those causes - but, the figures above haven’t stopped me carelessly and recklessly allowing myself to sit in a car on the death-laden roads of Britain. They haven’t stopped me walking unarmoured through “Da Hood” of Hampshire where gun crime must run amok. They haven’t encouraged me to spend the rest of my life in a swimming pool, away from the danger of fire (the odds of drowning are 1 in 8942, however in the previous scenario, I imagine the odds would be amended a little). I also found myself reconsidering my weekly Lotto purchase, as I am now aware that I am 70 times more likely to be killed in an asteroid impact.

I realise that these figures are over the course of an average lifetime - so perhaps I should bring it in a little, as my surgery figures are calculated using the timescale from the surgery to 30 days after.

Cranking it down to a period of a year, these UK (yay!) statistics lead me to further re-consider my initial balk at the risk.

For example, did you know:

* If you are a man between 25 and 34, you have a 1 in 1215 chance of dying of some cause in the next year. If you are a woman, you (some would say, unfairly) have the better odds of 1 in 2488.
* If you are a man between 35 and 44, your chances of death in the next twelve months increase drastically to 1 in 663 and 1 in 1106 if you are a woman.

So, my chance of going under the knife are better than my chances of surviving the next 12 months if I did nothing different!

But why even risk that seemingly less scary 0.06% chance? Well, that leads me back to the first statistics I found. What makes the risk acceptable to me is simply this: The average western citizen has a 1 in 5 chance of dying of heart disease. We can all pretty much work out that the 80% that miss the knock-knock-thud of heart disease don’t eat the way I do (or “did”) or weigh as much as I do (…on the way to “did”).

What makes it worth the risk is that, having seen my father die at 49 from heart disease, I want to be given the chance to be in that 80% that avoid heart disease. I want to live beyond my 40s and see my grand children.

I have tried for twenty years to do it alone - and I think it’s time I took a deep breath, admitted I can’t do it solo and cross “Da Hood”…in my car…with a lighted candle (perhaps even stopping off at the swimming pool on the way). I think it’s time I asked for help.

A simple decision when you think about it.
